This is Annoying

While channel surfing, I flipped into the new Tyra Banks talk show. It only took me about half a second to realize that "Tyra" is the worst talk show to hit the airwaves since "Gabrielle" (and I think we all remember "Gabrielle"). Tyra was especially idiotic this morning as she was hosting a show on girls with body image problems. Yes, a successful, beautiful supermodel was trying to counsel average young women about their body image problems. Does anyone else see something disturbing about that? I finally had to flip off the TV when Tyra pinched her "imperfect belly" to show how she had fat too. It really was too much. I think I'm gonna go eat a donut.

Pass the donuts, please. I can't stand her either.

Speaking of donuts, I had a dream of donuts Sunday morning. In this dream, I was in Dupont near my old apartment looking for a Dunkin' Donuts. But how can that be when there is nary a Dunkin' in the District? I think I even realized this in the dream, and even the option of making a trip to the Krispy Kreme couldn't ease my yearning. What does it mean? What does it mean?!?

Did Tyra manage to boost their self-esteem in the end by allowing them to strut on her catwalk?

I think your dream means that you were traumatized there were no Dunkin' Donuts in your old hood.

And I have no idea what Tyra did to try and make her feel better other than show the chick her own "fat" belly. I couldn't stand to watch it beyond that.

And gina, thanks for readin'!

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for knockin' on Tyra. Her willingness to take on the problem of eating disorders and expose her flaws to the world took a lot of courage and conviction. If there were more people like Tyra out there girls would not feel so pressured to be unrealistically thin. And it's not like the pictures of Tyra in magazines have been air brushed or altered in any way to make her look thinner...oh wait, yeah they are. Tyra is such a hippocrit it makes me want to eat several donuts then gag myself and barf them up on her because, I don't want to get fat, and I want to show her my little secret for staying thin. I didn't see the show but I bet she said something about loving biscuits or collard greens or fried chicken...ok Tyra we get it, you are black and you have curves girlfriend!

YES! She did comment about how she and Beyonce like to eat fried chicken and how they are curvy. That makes me feel SOOO much better that I could gag too.

how come famous people eating fried chicken makes them "curvy" and me eating fried chicken makes me fat?

Eating fried chicken makes me full. But eating fried chicken AND potato wedges makes me feel sick.

I think Bruiser has been going to KFC a little too often...the reference to potato wedges blows your cover.

Too often? Cover? If only! No shame in eating the Colonel's best! That man fought a war to bring us delicious chicken. The least we can do is it eat it!

Actually, I came home in time to watch some of this very special Tyra episode. The two things that stood out for me were:

1) Tyra made all the women who thought they were fat draw themselves on a giant chalkboard so we all could identify where they thought their "problem areas" were. What's with that? If I were forced to do that given my art skills I'd have a circle for a head and rectangles for legs. Talk about problem areas!

2) At the end of the show we were graced by a visit from Mo'Nique, who reminded us that we can all be "fat and fabulous".

Pass the donuts, indeed!

I'm not gonna say a word about how you watched more than 5 seconds of that horrendous show...its just too much.

Exactly... show my Tyra eating fried chicken and not working out afterwards instead of showing me your "fat belly." Thats called SKIN, bitch!
